so ive sorta here and there know of miike snow (swedish pop band – hipstery kinda thang) but it didn’t grab me. until today. because the bands front man Andrew Wyatt‘s upcoming solo album Descender, sounds like it’s going to be jusssst perfect.

and good news folks… KCRW is streaming the debut album in it’s full length before the official release date (april 16th).

Teaming up with the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, Wyatt offers a lush song-cycle full of grand statements made without fatal pretention.  It is unrepentantly pop, but with the kinds of iconoclastic sweeping musical gestures reminiscent of artists like Procol Harum, Sufjan Stevens, Cardinal, David Axelrod and Lee Hazlewood.  The cryptic lyrics cite Vietnam, McDonald’s, goblins, Parisian monuments and “the swimming pool sized steps of the juggernaut”…
